  Jesus the Jewish Theologian
by Brad Young, Marvin R. Wilson, David J. Wolpe

This is a book that belongs beside every bed in the world! What a wonderful thorough look at the Messiah Jesus! Dr. Young explores not only the parables of Jesus, but the historical settings, traditions and manners that are displayed in the Bible that are often overlooked. Dr. Young teaches at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa and travels the world speaking at various conferences. His studies while living in Israel at the Hebrew University have added a vast richness to his insight into teaching these truths. I would encourage every pastor or Bible student to read this book, and Dr. Young's other books: Paul the Jewish Theologian, The Jewish Background of the Lord's Prayer, Jesus and His Jewish Parables, and Parables: Jewish Tradition and Christian Interpretation. Dr. Young is one of the world's foremost scholars of Hebrew and Greek, and when he explains the world of prayer both in the Old Testament and New, a deeper depth of understanding is gained by his students. A must read!

Paul the Jewish Theologian : A Pharisee Among Christians, Jews, and Gentiles
by Brad H. Young

For those who have benefited from Dr. Young's cutting edge New Testament research, you won't want to miss this treasure. The book raises serious questions about the underlying philosophical framework of Paul's writings. Classically, it has been thought that Paul's writings were largely influenced by Hellenized Greek philosophy. Young disputes this by demonstrating Jewish thought and condition throughout Paul's writings. Since much of church doctrine has been based upon Paul's writings, this new approach to understanding Paul is of vital importance to serious students of the New Testament.

The Parables : Jewish Tradition and Christian Interpretation
by Brad H. Young

Recently Hendrickson's publisher took this book to a major book fair where it sold 5000 copies AND 5 seminaries picked it up as a textbook! Excellent for pastors and lay persons on teaching the parables of both the Jews and the Christians. A topic that most pastors never studied in seminary from a Jewish perspective. A thorough examination of the topic and a presentation of new insights is presented in a very readable format. I highly recommend this book to our home schooling families around the world! A good book!

Meet the Rabbis: Rabbinic Thought and the Teachings of Jesus (Paperback)
by Brad H. Young (Author)

As a teacher of Hebraic-Christian studies, I want to applaud Dr. Brad Young on all of his books, I love everyone of them. However his new work, “Meet The Rabbis: Rabbinic Thought and the Teachings of Jesus” is filled with truth that many Christian will never read because in the Church there is no one teaching Rabbinic thought. This book will become required reading for all those who come to Mayim Hayim Ministries House of Study to learn of Jesus’ and his Judaic Rabbinic Biblical Roots. Oh how I wish the Church had never thought-out the baby with the bath water... I pray Dr. Young will keep on writing books like this one, we need more books because the Body of Messiah is suffering from severe anorexia in this area. If you have a desire to know your Hebrew Lord (Yeshua) better, you need to read this book. Far too long have we cast stones at anything Rabbinic in nature in the church, yet it's from that root that Messiah gleaned from to teach. I hope you will order this book today. -- Rev. Barbara Di Gilio Th.D.

Understanding the Difficult Words of Jesus : New Insights from a Hebraic Perspective
by David Bivin, Roy B. Blizzard

...The authors make a very good case that the Gospels were originally written in Hebrew and then translated into Greek and too often the translator gave a literal translation to what was a Hebrew saying or idiom which means it doesn't make sense in English. The authors do an excellent job of placing Jesus in his proper historical context, as highly educated in both the study of the Torah and in the culture of his day. We cannot grasp His meaning without keeping in mind the Jewish roots to all His teachings. The book is too short (169 pages), and this makes it a quick and easy read, it also leaves the reader wishing for more and deeper exploration. This is a good book for a beginner who wishes a good tool for understanding the New Testament. The last 50 pages are an Appendix which gives examples of what the authors see as the true meaning and proper translation of some of the most obscure Biblical passages. One could wish the Appendix were twice as long, but it makes a good, sound introduction to the subject.
Highly recommended.

Jesus, Rabbi and Lord: The Hebrew Story of Jesus Behind Our Gospels
by Robert L. Lindsey

The late Dr. Lindsey book on the Hebrew Idioms is a must read, its excellent ! Adah Guzman

This book can be read and re-read over and over because there is much depth here. Jesus used the Hebrew language of the day to express Truth about the Kingdom of God. Robert Lindsey and others help to uncover the real meanings behind the Gospel sayings of Jesus. Buy it, Read it and change your thinking about the Kingdom!

Bob Lindsay's struggle to translate Mark into Hebrew from Greek led to a lifetime quest to know the truth behind some of the hard passages of the Bible to understand His work saves the rest of us a lot of misunderstanding.

God's Appointed Times: A Practical Guide for the Understanding and Celebrating the Biblical Holy Days
by Barney Kasdan

Fascinating reading.... Written from a Messianic Jewish perspective, this book is an excellent introduction to both the spring and fall feasts of the LORD. The reader is guided through the history, prophetic significance, traditional Jewish observance, and New Testament observance. The author also explains how the holy days can be celebrated today by all believers in Yeshua Ha Meshiach. He even includes games, music, and recipes. The Gentile Believers in Yeshua will be fascinated by the discovery of their Jewish heritage, and will understand more of what their Bibles are telling them. This is a must-have reference for the Christian's bookshelf, along with
"God's Appointed Customs" by the same author.

  The Meridian Hebrew/English English/Hebrew Dictionary
by Dov Ben-Abba (Editor)

The current edition is identical to the Signet dictionary by Dov Ben Abba published in 1977, which is the one I'm using (it was only $1.95 then). Its definitions are very good, and are more extensive than in other pocket Hebrew dictionaries that I've seen, especially English-Hebrew. The Hebrew is fully vocalized so there's no question how to pronounce a word. Many Hebrew expressions are defined. My copy is getting so worn that I'm considering buying the new edition.

  Messages from God
by Dennis E. McGee

Strong Meat For Hungry People. Dennis E. McGee book, "Messages from God - A Forensic Study of the Hebrew Alphabet" is 902 pages of hearty meat for hungry souls. This is a book you must eat very slowly because of it rich content. I recommend this book to all who like the deep things of the LORD. Dennis paints for us pictures by using the Hebrew and Aramaic letters, which are the original languages of the Older Covenant (Old Testament). The Ancient Hebrew letters do much more to teach us about who the Messiah is, than anything else I know of. Each letter an Ancient picture or ideogram, showing us the deep truths of God. God's holy Word is literal, and the Word pictures give credence to the literal text. I know you will enjoy this wonderful book, I did.

The Jewish State : The Struggle for Israel's Soul
by Yoram Hazony

Reviewer: First some background about me! I was 11 yrs. old in 1939 and grew up with an interest in world history at a time when history was being made. I admit to inheriting a lot of misconceptions and incomplete information on the subject of the Middle East, Palestine, Israel, the Balfour Declaration and the Jews. I took this book with me as holiday reading material and had to persevere to get through the Introduction and Part One which is essential reading to benefit from the whole volume. Coming to the second part which deals with the History of the Jewish State I simply could not put it down! In a way I wish that Mr.Hazony had included more explanatory detail and that the Notes, contained at the end of the book, had been printed as footnotes, for it is important to read them along with the text. However, this book has defintely prompted me to pursue a new phase of an old interest and I shall certainly be searching the catalogue of my local library for further reading. And isn't that what a good book, well researched and well written should do for an active and enquiring mind?

Aleph Isn't Tough : An Introduction to Hebrew for Adults (Teachers Edition)
by Linda Motzkin, Hara Person (Editor)

Most grammars give the alphabet a chapter or two and expect the student to swallow it whole - Rabbi Motzkin takes the Hebrew alphabet and teaches it in digestible bites. The alphabet is taught in its natural context - Jewish worship and beliefs, a few letters at a time and with plenty of background material to cement the letters and sounds into the student's mind. Writing is taught along with the letters.
Directed specifically those who want to learn Hebrew in worship, this work is invaluable to anyone - Christian or Jewish - who wants to study the Bible in its original text. The second book is due to come out in 2001 - Watch for it!

The Book of Letters: A Mystical Alef-Bait
by Lawrence Kushner

I borrowed this book and read it for the first time about 15 years ago. How could such a slim volume have so much wisdom and power and poetry in it? Both my wife and I found it deeply moving and enlightening as we explored what it meant to be Jews in a modern world, while part of a faith and tradition that had deep and ancient roots. When I tried to buy a copy, I learned that it was out of print and had been for a while. We decided that this was an unacceptable situation. We heard about so many people who loved this book and wanted to share it with others. So, we started Jewish Lights Publishing to bring it back into print. Read it and you'll understand why, whether you are Jewish or Christian or just seeking. And, the whole thing is in calligraphy from Larry Kushner's own hand -- just the icing on this mystical treat.

The study of gematria, the hidden meaning of Hebrew words based on the numerical value of the letters, has been called the spice of Torah. It is a fascinating tool of traditional Torah interpretation. This reference volume lists each and every word of the Pentateuchin Hebrew with its English translation according to its gematria, enabling anybody to experiment and explore the possibilities inherent in this methodology of interpretation. The books format has been praised as a great convenience and is invaluable for rabbis, scholars, and students.

The Pattern & the Prophecy: God's Great Code
by James Harrison

One of the most original commentary I have read on the Bible. * Written by a converted secular humanist, not a confused agnostic. * "The Pattern & the prophecy" has 416 pages -- nearly twice as long as "The Bible Code" and is half the price. * Three monumental biblical laws proven as the climax in the last chapter all dealing with the name"JESUS" taken from Genesis 1:1 and Revelation 22:21, the Bible's first and final verses.   Yeshua : The Name of Jesus Revealed in the Old Testament
by Yacov Rambsel, Grant R. Jeffrey

In this first powerful book, Yacov Rambsel provides detailed textual analyses of hundreds of passages from both Old and New Testaments, showing how God overlaid His Word with the good news of His Son -- thousands of years before the Savior of Mankind was born in a stable of Bethlehem. The Bible codes were hidden by God, no doubt, to be discovered in this day of cynicism and religious skepticism. This volume provides conclusive proof of the infallible Word of God and of Christ's mission of salvation to a dying world. And now that we have seen them, no man or woman can ever again claim not to have been warned. I love this book! MHM
